Crew

Captain: David Pellerin

I grew up in the Puget Sound area, and I love showing this amazing region to fellow travelers and sailors. I have been sailing for 30+ years, and have cruised extensively in Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and in Canadian waters including the inside passage and the outer coast of Vancouver Island. I have also sailed in the British Virgin Island, the Seychelles, and Australia. I have owned or co-owned a variety of cruising sailboats. I hold a US Coast Guard 50-Ton Master License.

View from a kayak on clear water near rocks into a calm bay with a white sailboat anchored, surrounded by dense evergreen trees and a bright blue sky.

I also enjoy working on boats; I have an ABYC Marine Systems certification and I have experience with a wide range of repairs and systems installations. If you are considering purchasing your own boat, I’m happy to share my opinions about boats and their systems. I can tell you what I like and don’t like in a sailboat, and what it takes to keep a vessel operating reliably.

Apart from sailing, I have a passion for nature, travel, and the environment. I enjoy hiking and kayaking, which are excellent activities to combine with Salish Sea cruising. I also enjoy history, and in particular the natural and human histories of the place I call home. When not sailing, I split my time between Port Townsend, Washington and Yokohama, Japan.

My wife Satomi often sails with me as crew. As an artist, she has a keen eye for the beauty of this area.
